Cliff Diving in Oman

On 27th September we rented a car and drove from Muscat to the spectacular desert oasis of Wadi Shab to watch the finals of the 2012 Red Bull cliff diving world championship. The event was free and open to the public so when we arrived we just followed the crowds deep into the oasis and scrambled up the rocks to secure a spot with prime view of the Red Bull dive board built into the rocks… The setting of  this canyon-like valley was completely breathtaking and it was amazing to watch the daredevil divers plummet 30 metres into an emerald green pool. We were rooting for UK’s Gary Hunt, who won!!
